   There were two promo CDs released for this track.
(CSK 73847) - which is a 5-track release that has "Radio Mix 1" and, I would imagine, the only option for Top 40 radio.

(CSK 4114) - which is a 6-track release that has 5 radio versions that could all be potential airplay candidates.

Did anyone hear any of the cuts played from the 6-track promo CD, or did stations stick with Radio Mix 1 from the 5-track promo? 

(Original Radio) and (Pop Radio) both appear to use the original lyrics whilst (Radio Edit 1), (Hot Radio Edit) and (Master Mix Radio) have the lyrics from "Let The Beat Hit 'Em - Part 2".

The description for the 6-track listing on Discogs includes the following: "This is the second promo sent out by Columbia Records. Even though the song found on this release shares the same title as the first promo, for all intents and purposes, this is an entirely different song, with a completely different set of lyrics. The only thing both songs have in common is their title, "Let The Beat Hit 'Em". Outside of the US, this single was released as "Let The Beat Hit 'Em Part 2."

	TM Century serviced the radio mix so I'm guessing that's the version radio stations played.

	There are two different recordings, which I'll refer to as "original" and "remix." Both CSK 73847 and CSK 4114 contain the original and remix versions on each, and therefore it's confusing how Discogs splits these into two different master releases. In my opinion, it's all the same song despite the different recordings. There are a plethora of "remixes" from the '90s that are totally different recordings from their original counterparts yet still are considered the same song. Anyhow, here's how it breaks down... Original version Most of these mixes starts with the vocal sample "In order to play with this record, you must tune your bass to ours..." It appears on the following US CD singles: CSK 73847 1. Radio Mix 1 (listed 4:38; actual 4:41)* 3. Brand New Super Pumped-Up C&C Vocal Club (listed 7:28; actual 7:33)* 5. The Brand New Super Pumped-Up C&C Instrumental Mix (listed 5:22; actual 5:26)* CSK 4114 4. Original Radio (listed 4:38; actual 4:29) 5. Pop Radio Edit (listed 4:02; actual 4:07)* These versions also appear on the commercial CD single (44K 73834). The various radio edits all sound like the same mix but edited differently. I didn't closely A/B each mix to know if there are subtle mix differences or segments that are unique to any of them. Interestingly, the "Original Radio" is also time compressed as it runs slightly faster in tempo but has the same pitch as the other two versions. Remixes* This is a new recording with completely different instrumentation and vocals. While the mixes and edits all differ from each other in some way, they all come from the same recording with at least some instrumentation and vocals in common. Several of these versions start with a piano slide followed by bass notes. The "hook" of this version is a skat vocal (ba-da-da-do-ba-do) that sort of reminds me of "Gypsy Woman" by Crystal Waters. 	Also, hopefully someone who listened to R&B/urban radio can answer the initial question about which edit received the most airplay. Top 40 stations in my area didn't play it, so I was only familiar with it from the music video. On YouTube, the official music video runs 4:38 but starts with 0:10 of wind noise. That means the actual song is closer to 4:28, which would match up with the Original Radio.

	WRKS in NY played the "Brand New Super Pumped-Up C&C Vocal Club" and faded around the 4:15 mark. WBLS who bought out WRKS still plays this version to this day. It doesn't have as many orchestral horns as the album and subsequent edits. I don't remember ever hearing "What will people say" at the end. The Clivilles + Cole cd includes the 5-minute house version which I remember hearing in the mix or possibly as a 2 week rotation alternate when at it's peak.
