Sorry to ask here. I've been trying to get the TopHitUSA promo CD collection digitally for a while now. Could someone please share it with me? Thanks.

I have a tendency to blatantly ignore recordings that originated from American Idol (i.e. the weekly iTunes downloads). I put them in the same category as Kidzbop; they had strong sales figures but, with the exception of the winner's "finale" performances, they are basically karaoke covers that did not get airplay. In my perfect world, Glee would also be lumped in to that category but they DID get considerable consistent airplay rotation.
Either way I can't stand Carrie Underwood. 😁 All IMHO. Always happy to know that someone is making the effort to compile such things. |

Unfortunately, you have to subscribe to Top Hits USA. I'm not sure how far back their library is available online, looks like all music that's current within the last year according to their website.

Thank you for the information. My question is whether anyone can share part of their collection with me, especially from the 1990s.

I don't remember any of the Glee tracks ever being played on-air with the possible exception of "Last Christmas". Were they any more than novelty spins on morning shows? |

I definitely remember the Glee rendition of "Don't Stop Believin'" getting played to death at the peak of the show's popularity.

Their weekly series for radio started in January 1992 (the same month as "Crap From The Past"!), with disc number T100. There's been one weekly "T" release every week since then. There are recurrent discs released every two months, which round up the biggest radio hits at the time. The recurrent discs are available in CHR ("RH"), country, ("RC"), adult contemporary ("RA"), rock ("RK"), and maybe a few others. The recurrent discs neatly round up the top 100 (or so) of the year for the various formats. I asked them a while back about the back library, and if they'd sell me tracks from the years before I subscribed. They said they could sell me 320 kbps mp3 files, but didn't have the older stuff in lossless. It was also around $1 per track (or something around that number) for the older files. I didn't bite. It's been a great service, with track selection from all the major labels and quite a few indies. Looking back over the years (back from when the charts made sense), the recurrent discs included basically everything that hit the top 15, and the weekly discs included just about everything that hit the top 40. You can search their library, or download the whole thing, at www.tophitsusa.com. A quick search shows 48 tracks by the Glee Cast from 2009 to 2014. None ended up on any recurrent discs; these were not real radio hits (despite a little isolated airplay). |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
