Does anyone know if the price to acquire the RR collection was made public?

No indication that the RR Collection (The Vault) has transferred ownership. There’s just a new man in charge. His vision for the company hasn’t been announced. Only change thus far is the last sold out Top Pop Singles is now available as a Print On Demand book. Company’s future is still anyone’s guess.

I'd imagine more Print On Demand if that works well.  The new chief talks about liking to buy a new RR book each Birthday and Christmas, so I'd imagine he would be doing more books.  he also talks about data mining so some new and exciting things I'd imagine.  I can't see them doing an online database only because that did not do well.  That said that was 10 years ago so.... :_

We know firsthand that an online database works well. It just needs to be an affordable model. Paying “per search” is less appealing than paying for a time period with unlimited searches.

Exactly. But I still loved the Music Vault and I hope they bring something similar back.

It's been at least 20 years since Top 40 Music on CD went to an online-only subscription database. I'll bet there are a number of members here who don't even remember when the only way to get this info was in a gigantic, 4-inch-thick book that was only updated every two-to-three years. And I seem to remember that, at the time, there were people who were not happy about Pat moving it all to this "Internet-only" thing.

It'll be exciting to see what Vinnie Freda has planned for the company.

Agreed AK. That price per search model seemed to me like a tactic to keep purchasing the books, and that's exactly what I did! This never bothered me in the least, though.

Hi.  This is Vinnie.  The guy that is reviving Record Research.  I can confirm many of the speculations above.  We will have multiple classic sold out books available as print-on-demand for Christmas and in 2026, and Paul is working on a new, updated Country Singles book for next year.  In addition, we are definitely working on making the database (s) available online for a subscription.  And much more in the works once we overcome some technical obstacles.  Any suggestions for other things we can do are greatly appreciated!

Glad to hear, Vinnie! Record Research has a lot of fans that post on this forum, and I'm sure if you ask their opinions, they will share :)

Hi Vinnie, great to e-meet you, and I'm so glad you're reviving Record Research. You asked for any suggestions. If you're going to expand on any books that haven't been updated in years (as most of us here already have most of the hard copy books), I'd like to suggest expanding the AC/Hot AC book.

I think Paul Haney has copies of all the AC charts from Radio & Records Magazine, after doing much work to obtain them. So I'd also like to suggest a book that has copies of all the AC charts in that magazine. Broken up by decade, I suppose.
