Downloaded the mp3 from Amazon. Sounds terrible. Either a bad source or too much compression. It's the 7" Edit (4:02) (no rap at 2:35) version. |

According to my sketchy research, Johnny Gill's "Rub You the Right Way" cassette single features the 7" Edit as the lead track (which Ed has already nicely documented) but also contains the "Radio Edit" on the B-side. So the latter would be the remix version running 4:10 with the rap at 2:35, correct? Can anyone with a cassette single copy confirm this?
Oh, and thank you for the "Rub You the Right Way" version summary, Aaron. My head was ready to burst from confusion until I read that post! Edited by Todd Ireland |

todd...i just listened to the b-side of the cassingle which
contains the radio edit of the song "rub you the right way" and it doesn't sound the same as the 'regular' version that i remember hearing on the radio back in the day....but it does contain the rap from about 2:40 to 3:10 on the cassingle....it may differ in timing because many cassingles have pitch issues as i've documented previously..... |

Thanks, Ed. So to make it official:
Cassette single copies run 4:01 and is the 7" Edit, while the flip side runs 4:10 and is the "Radio Edit". (Both versions received radio airplay.) Edited by Todd Ireland |

Just double-checking... Does the "LP version" of "Rub You the Right Way" appearing on the 18130 promo CD single actually run :10 longer than the true LP version on the Johnny Gill self-titled CD (Motown 6283)?

I came across a listing for a second issued cassette single (MOTC-1982) that
has the same versions as the vinyl 45 (not remixed). Apparently there are two official single versions for this one. |

The radio station here played the LP Version. I preferred it over the other versions. I didn't know an edited version of the LP was available on CD. |
