Although Jim has proclaimed himself "ear dead" when it comes to spotting mix differences, he is dead right about the mono DJ version of "No More Mr. Nice Guy" by Alice Cooper being "hotter."
Not only is the mono version a dedicated mix, but it also has added reverb on the guitars and vocals. You can tell from the opening riffs of the song that the guitar is drier on the stereo mix. Nice ear, Jim! |

Ya know, was 14 when this song was a hit in 1973. I always remembered the song having more 'balls' to it on the radio than when I first got it on CD years ago. Always attributed the radio mix to lots of compression on the air signal. Guess I heard that dedicated mono promo mix.
That promo is a rare find, and not cheap if you find one, with prices starting at $27.00! |

Well, 13 months later, I plunked down that 27.00 to purchase and hear the mono promo side of the 45.
Indeed, besides the reverb Aaron previously mentioned, the stereo side ends with drums while the mono side fades out faster with no drums at the end. |
