My commercial 45 has a listed time of (3:14) and an actual time of (3:13). I only post this info because the 9 current database CDs that feature this song have run times ranging from (3:10) to (3:17).

As an aside, I met Rex Smith a few years ago (he's now doing the Broadway musical touring company thing). Nice guy. It's not often I meet people who have had Top 10 singles.

The version on Swingin' Singles runs significantly slower than the 45 (about 1.5% slower). I wonder if we have a case where the LP speed and 45 speed differ.

I just timed my dj 45 of "You Take My Breath Away" and it runs (3:14) while the LP length is (3:16) and yes the 45 runs slightly faster than the vinyl LP.

According to what Aaron and Pat say, does anyone know if
version 45 was released on a cd? |

If you take the song from Sooner Or Later and speed
it up by 1.4 percent then the song runs the correct 45 length of 3:14. |

If the versions I have on CD are correct, the 45 versions differ in both speed and length.
I have the LP version on Realm's 3-CD Ultimate Love Classics Vol. 2 (2002), where it runs 3:17. I have the 45 version on Rhino's Have A Nice Day Vol. 22 (1993), where it runs 3:11. There are digital clones (all digitally exactly 2 dB quieter) on:
Also, the fade of the Realm version runs about 4 beats longer than the fade of the Rhino version, which seems to fade to tape hiss fairly abruptly. |

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.
