the cassingle issued as mca 54815 contains a non described version that runs 4:41 and is 0:10 LONGER than the full cd/lp version........the cd "uptown block party" COULD contain the cassingle version since the two times match, but i cannot confirm this..........the db should be amended to reflect this.....

My promo single contains the "album version" which runs (4:41)...same as Ed's cassingle.

But the LP version as found on the cd "Nuttin' But Love" runs (4:31) so we need to determine if the (4:41) version is really an LP length + :10 longer or is the (4:41) appearance a different edit or mix that is erroneously labeled "album version"?

Yes, the cassingle version (promo CD version) has a slightly longer fadeout. I just compared the LP version to the promo CD, and other than the fadeout, everything else is the same.

Can anyone confirm whether this version - the Album version - is the bouncy midtempo (90-95 bpm) version that got the radio play, or the slower ballad version that samples Janet Jackson's "Come Back To Me"? IIRC, on my promo 12", the ballad was actually the remix, but it always struck me as strange to remix a rap hit into a ballad. Can anyone confirm?

It's the midtempo version. There's a separate promo with the remix. I'm not a big fan of that remix.
