CrapFromThePast: "Maybe we should start a thread for acts who had a big 45 but no full album. I can only think of one (non-benefit) hit single from the 1980s, where the recording act never recorded anything else but that one single."
OK, I like that idea and I'll start that thread. As was already mentioned, there's "Life is a Rock" by Reunion and "Pump Up the Volume" by M/A/R/R/S. The first 2 songs that come to mind for me are: "Makin' It" - David Naughton "She's Like the Wind" - Patrick Swayze In both cases, it could be argued that the actors were pursuing their acting careers and had no interest in recording an album. BTW, around 1990, I was in a grocery store, waiting in line to pay for my items, when I noticed in front of me was a person who appeared to be David Naughton. I asked, and it was. And I asked him why he didn't record a whole album after "Makin' It" became such a big hit. I don't remember his exact response but it was something like what I said above. Edited by EdisonLite |

Of course, there are also situations where we didn't get a full album in the US, but a UK artist who was a one-hit wonder here sometimes never had a US album (but had a UK album). So one that falls under this category is:
Paul Nicholas - "Heaven on the 7th Floor". There are probably quite a few songs that fall into this category. Others? As I think of other songs (for either category), I'll list them here. Edited by EdisonLite |

I believe that "I'm On Fire" by 5000 Volts was released on a UK album, which wasn't released in the US. It did hit the US top 40, but I wouldn't really call it a hit over here.

There's a lot of crap on the radio, but there's only one Crap From The Past.

"Breakin' ... There's No Stoppin' Us" by Ollie & Jerry.
Ironically, they had that one top 10 hit from the movie "Breakin'" and then, well, stopped before releasing an album. I imagine that most of the acts that fit this criteria had their hit from a movie. |

I don't remember ever seeing a domestic album for Mac and Katie Kissoon's "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep".. not a high charter. Let me know though, I could be wrong.
