my commercial 45, issued as atlantic 3372, states a run time of 3:50, but actually runs 3:47.....if you just fade the last 0:06 from 3:42 to 3:48, you'll re-create the true 45 version....basically the 3:50 running cd versions are about 0:03 to long.....this accounts for the differing run times in the db.....this should be noted in the db....

I've been able to verify that the commercial LP length of ABBA's "Dancing Queen" has an actual and printed run time of 3:50. FYI, it exactly matches the length as it appears on the ABBA Definitive Collection CD (Polar/UTV Records 314549974).

Apparently, some CD appearances of "Dancing Queen" have a dropout occurring at roughly 2.07. Here's a quote from Jon Astley, who did the 2001 remasters of ABBA's discography:
There was an Abba fan who wrote to me saying 'Why does the backing vocal on the second line of the second chorus of 'Dancing Queen' now not go on as long as it used to on the vinyl version?' I couldn't think what he was on about, but when I looked at the file, I saw that there was a dropout there and I had taken the first chorus, which was just the tiniest bit shorter and pasted that in to sort out the dropout. The 'anoraks' out there are your greatest friend and your worst enemy. The official music video on YouTube features the aforementioned "fixed" version, along with the streaming release of the Arrival album. All other ABBA releases featuring the song on streaming retain the dropout. Can the edit in question be reproduced?

There's another point later in the song which you can borrow from to repair the dropout where the backing vocals won't disappear. I prefer working from the version on the first pressing of ABBA Gold the most... it is a little bright in terms of EQ but it is a great transfer.
