Ed brought up in a private e-mail that cassette single copies of K-Ci Hailey's "If You Think You're Lonely Now" feature the "live radio edit" on the A-side. While this is indeed true, the version I always heard played on the radio was the one on the B-side, which is the same as the album version running 3:56 on the "Jason's Lyric" soundtrack CD. I personally consider the B-side to be the true hit version and even wonder if the "live radio edit" may have been pressed on the A-side by mistake. Either way, I'm thinking the database should probably make note of both versions appearing on the cassette single.

Any thoughts on this?

Ed, I don't think the song was ever released on a vinyl 45 format.

Or was it?

Here are the promo CD details...

CDP 1373
1. non-described version (listed & actual 3:56)

This seems to be the full-length soundtrack LP version and contains the lyric "sh-t if y'all don't mind" at 0:43.

CDP 1379
1. Live Radio Edit (listed & actual 4:35) (mutes the word "sh-t")
2. Live Extended Version (listed & actual 5:20) (does not remove the word "sh-t")
3. Extended LP (listed 4:59 & actual 4:58)
4. Clean LP (listed 3:48; actual 3:44)

The Clean LP version edits out the segment between 0:35 and 0:45, so it completely skips the line with "sh-t" in it. It also has a slightly truncated first note and swaps the left and right channels. The Extended LP has a different vocal take in a number of different places, so the version name is a little misleading.

CD-R promo
1. Clean Edit (actual 3:44)

CD-Rs were VERY uncommon in 1995, and quite possibly this is the earliest promo CD-R I have in my collection. It's burned on a TDK CD-W12, and you don't find many of those laying around. I bought my first CD-Rs sometime in late 1996 (also TDKs), and they cost me about $15.00 each. I can only imagine how much one cost in early 1995!

Aside from the disc, this was issued with a generic printed front insert, and at the bottom it says "Edited by Chris Clay for Digitrax Productions Inc." This is the exact same edit that ended up on CDP 1379 as the Clean LP (including the swapped channels), but the first note is not truncated on this CD-R.
