Reprise set them up for download as of yesterday. Part of their deal for the catalog. Including the album Living Eyes which contains the hard to find "He's A Liar"
The Idea album has three versions of "I've Gotta Get A Message To you".. stereo, mono LP and mono 45 versions. I don't know if these will make it to CD or will only be downloads. I saw them on Yahoo Music, I don't know about I Tunes. Bill |

Bill, I bought the excellent-sounding 3-CD Reprise set, The Studio Albums 1967-1968 last March, which included Bee Gees' 1st, Horizontal and Idea. It does contain the three versions of "I've Gotta Get A Message To You" that you mentioned. The stereo and mono versions do differ in some cases, particularly on Idea, where the mono tracks are often faster than their stereo counterparts. I'd originally purchased the open-reel edition of the album in 1968, and my reel-to-reel machine was a bit on the fast side, so the mono tracks on the CD sound "right" to me. :)
My only quibble with the set is that some of the non-LP B-sides, especially "Sinking Ships" and "The Singer Sang His Song" are included only in stereo. In the case of "Sinking Ships," that means that the double-tracked harmonies found on the mono Atco 45 are missing from the single-tracked stereo CD version, as was also the case on the old Tales From The Brothers Gibb boxed set. The reason I mention this is because the flat singing on the high notes, quite apparent on the stereo mix, is completely masked by the double-tracked vocals on the mono 45 mix. |

They're all on MusicGiants, too, in lossless format. I was pretty happy about their OOP live album being made available again. That thing goes for over $50 used.
