This is great news! I bought a couple Canadian books when news was 1st posted here. But others were out of print, so I'm glad I'll be able to get them now.

I just ordered the CHUM & Vancouver books on Amazon. (I had bought 2 RPM books from his website years ago). The prices are very reasonable (roughly $40 except one book at $56). His Vancouver's Charted Songs '56-'78 book isn't out yet because of issues with the cover of the book. I hope it will be released soon.
For anyone from Canada, are the charts from RPM Magazine considered the official charts of Canada, the way Billboard is in the US? Does anyone know where I can buy these Whitburn-type books for Australia, New Zealand, or individual European countries (besides the UK, which I have)? That's a hard question to answer. I've never heard of any one publication being referred to as the "official" charts, but RPM is probably as good as any. Oddly enough, usually when Canadian radio stations quote chart statistics, it's almost always Billboard. There was also a magazine called The Record, which I don't believe was around for as long. I'd probably go by RPM. |
