i just picked up the promo cd single for the ruben
studdard song 'sorry 2004' issued as j records 'j1dj-57204-2' and it contains the below tracks 1-radio edit (listed 4:02; actual 4:21) 2-instrumental (listed 4:02; actual 4:20) 3-call out hook (listed 0:10; actual 0:12) this bodes the question. the db lists all the 4:20-4:21 versions as 'lp version'.....since pat was probably going off the listed running time of the promo as 4:02 to assume there was a difference....but, was there ever a shorter version of the song actually issued? The only single format in which this song was commercially released in the U.S. was as a 7-inch single. Its label also gives incorrect information. The label of my copy states that it is the "Radio Version" running (4:02), but it is actually the full album version. The version on the "Promo Only" series is also the full album version. So there's no evidence yet that this mysterious (4:02) edit was ever actually issued.

I can confirm no 4:02 version exists. I can confirm that putting the year after a song title is probably a way to ensure your song is very outdated years later though...

At the time it came out, some joked that the title
referred to him singing the word "sorry" two thousand and four times over the course of the song. |

You're right, and I barely even heard the song in 2004 and certainly not since then. |
