I don't think this was a big selling single but I just spent 95 bucks on "The Official Tour CD" promo single which I didn't even know existed until now. It contains the "LP Edit" of "The Dogs of War" and am happy to report it was worth the money! The end of the song does not mix into "One Slip" as it does on the album. I made my own edit of this to match the time before I received the CD today. The opening in the LP version has 16 bars of instrumental. I chose to go with 8 bars in my custom edit. The official edit only has 4 bars so that tells me that they must have cut another 4 out somewhere in the middle since my time matches. I'll report more once I compare it. I'm just so excited to track down this edit especially since it can't be edited from the LP version! Good thing is now I can make a custom LP version that stands alone as well.

I don't even think this edit appears in the "A Tree Full of Secrets" comp. I have never heard of this edit. The CD is in mint condition too!

I'm not that good with telling if songs are indeed a different mix. Would someone be willing to compare the LP Version and this LP Edit? I'm guessing it's just an edit but you know how sometimes things are mislabeled.

I don't hear any mix differences between the two. As a side note, however, the first single from Momentary Lapse Of Reason, "Learning To Fly," does have some mix differences. The sound effects on the fadeout are removed from the mix on the 45. The 45 is also edited.

Yes I did remember that on "Learning To Fly." Another reason I'm so glad I picked up that promo as well when I did. I did notice that the "DOW" single is recorded my lower. I had to boost it way up when I was creating my custom edits.
