both my commercial 45 and my commercial cassingle are issued with the same catalog number, virgin 99230, and both contain the "remix" version with a listed run time on the 45 as 4:12 as well as the cassingles face......

This is one of a few that I preferred the album version over the awful 45 remix
version. We played the album version of the song until it reached #1. Once that happened our radio station started playing the horrific 45 version. Funny how I own the 45 version but never play it. I prefer playing the album version. |

Interesting. I had never even heard the LP version until just a moment ago. While they are very different mixes, I can't say I feel that one is better than the other.

In your opinion what makes the 45 remix awful? I'm just curious. Thanks. |

It sounded like a totally different song to me besides it being a remix. I couldn't see a song so badly remixed(sounded like some amateur had done it) be #1. IMO a 45 version is suppose to add something to the original and all this one did was make it worse. I still cringe to this day when I hear it on the radio since they no longer play the album version but instead the 45 remix. I'm assuming they do this because the album version is much longer in running time. Edited by Ron S |

I can understand one's preference for a 45 vs. LP version.
Personally, all I've ever heard is the 45 version and that's the one I knew. When I listened to the LP version tonight for the first time it seemed very jarring. My preference in this case remains with the 45 version. |

I just listened to the LP version for the first time! It's actually kinda neat. Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Ron S! I'll still consider the 45 version the go2 version because
it's the only version I've been listening to for 30 years. |
