Pop Annual states this 45 runs 2:59 but all mono CD appearances run 3:07/3:08. Anyone know if the label states 2:59?

David, I have two original 1968 Cadet Concept commercial copies; they both have a stated time of (2:59).

I have the original 45 and it runs 3:09, although the label says 2:59.

next question on this song...the stereo version that is missing the reverb, etc., when did that first appear? Was it the LP version at the time (1968), or did it appear later. The database points to the latter.

The stereo version missing the wah-wah guitar part first appeared on cd a few years ago. That version was also slightly fast....it has since appeared on a grey area cd from a session tape with all guitar parts intact and running an extra 20 seconds or so longer to a cold ending.

I have the US LP, too, and it's just the single mix in fake stereo....and very little bottom end. It sounds pretty harsh. GM |

sorry Tom,
It appeared WAY before the CD era in true stereo, albeit the version without the phasing, etc. I have it on a 1976 4-LP set "Golden Days Of British Rock" Sire V1-8046 from Columbia House Canada, so the stereo version existed at least as of 1976. The LaserLight 12317 The British Invasion CD is from 1994. But it seems from Gary's post there was no true stereo in 1968! Edited by davidclark |

Sire's History of British Rock LP includes Pictures in stereo, but without the phasing. The album came out in 1974, so that may be one of the first stereo appearances.

I probably knew that it did exist on vinyl in stereo but forgot that....either way, i think the added parts were done live to mono (yet probably recorded on a separate tape which must be how the full single version was able to be remixed into stereo) and they didnt want to put the basic stereo track out on the 1968 lp because people would complain, i guess they figured it was better to put out the rechanneled single so people could at least still hear the single version.
