In many instances, the database indicates that a song is ":xx longer than the 45 version." When this comment is used, does that ALWAYS mean that the difference in length occurs at the end? In other words, it has a longer fade.
The reason I ask is because there are some instances where the comment "longer fade" is actually used. Can anyone clarify? Pat? |

I believe the ":xx longer than the 45 version" comment means the difference in length does occur at the end, Aaron. As for the "longer fade" comment, Pat is welcome to correct me if I'm wrong but I've always taken this to mean that the fade starts at an earlier point in a song than usual, therefore making it a longer fade. Am I right?

You are right on the meaning of "longer than the 45 version" as the difference would always occur at the end of the song. I did not intend for the "longer fade" comment to be interpreted as the fade beginning at an earlier point in the song but rather more in line with just being longer than previous releases. Technically I should have entered the :xx longer comment if you come across any of these I would be happy to change the comment.
