Our station played the “without rap” version, as did Jim’s old station.

The "7 inch mix" starts out like the album version in
the beginning and then in the instrumental bridge
before the rap has elements of the "7 inch Choice mix"
much like what was done on the version versions of
Janet's "Alright".

Honestly, this is the first I've heard the rap break
and I listened mostly to Black radio in NYC.
That parent album got as much airplay as the debuts of
Toni Braxton or Mary J. Blige which soon followed.

The two 12 inches versions (original and choice) pull
second half of "Finally" in a more instrumental
direction. Steve 'Silk' Hurley had produced several key
singles including later ones for Tene' Williams and
Chantay Savage that were big in NYC.

Cece's follow-up, "We've got a love thang" continued the
infectious flow of "Finally" but retains its own charm
with the help of Hurley.

There are at least three versions of the video that
were released at the time; the version using the 7"
Without Rap was the most-played version. The 7"
Choice Mix version was serviced to nightclubs and
appears on a Telegenics VHS compilation; there's also
a 12" Choice Mix version of the video that RockAmerica
(a similar pool) serviced.

The 7" rap version was A side on the cassette single
and also featured and the end of side A on the maxi-
cassette single. Yesterday was the first I heard the rap
bridge.

The 7" mix without rap is also known as the version on
the album and it's one with the percussion upfront in
the intro.
