anyone notice that the 45 version runs fast..........all the cd versions run between 3:45 and 3:49..........the 45 runs fast and clocks in at exactly 3:40 like the 45's face states.........except for it's speed up pitch it's the same......just an observation

I've got pitch control here. I just tried upping the "Flashback" box version by +2 and it clocked at 3:42. Upped it to +2.4 and it clocked at 3:41. My wife (who was an ELO fanatic in the 70s) says it now sounds like the Chipmunks. I'll get it to 3:40 and send it to you for comparison to your 45 if wish. |

My old Denon CD player had pitch control. I bought it around '96. It was around $200. Unfortunately, Denon no longer has that feature on their new CD players.

They're usually used by professional disc jockeys (I'm sure they could be for home use, but I haven't really seen one marketed as such). I saw a double CD player with pitch control (lot of other features too) from Gemsound for about $160 doing some searching on-line. There are other more expensive systems as well.

I used to use the Denon 2600F dual deck when I was jocking parties. Awesome CD players! In addition to pitch control, they had sampling, looping, digital scratch, multiple "hot start" cue points. Of course the price tag was about $1,000, but well worth it.

Mine was the Denon DCD-815 and it really was marketed for the consumer. It was sold in a consumer store called "The Good Guys" which is basically just like Circuit City. Boy, it sure came in handy for CDs that had songs that were mastered too slow or too fast ... or when I occasionally wanted to get artsy and just have a song faster.

Fortunately these days you can get PC software for ten bucks that has pitch control and a lot more.

Speaking of the Chipmunks, ever slowed down or pitched down any of the Chipmunk songs? Loads of fun. It's so obvious that all the voices are David Seville's when you slow it down, and funny to hear how slow he had to talk ad how exaggerated his enunciation is. Hmm, I've never slowed down "Purple People Eater." I'll have to try that. |
