Certainly not meaning to pick on the legendary Mr. Gordy's family of labels here this evening, it's just where I happen to be finding all of tonight's timing errors. My commercial 45, and both my red vinyl promo 45 and my black vinyl promo 45 (all versions mono) all have a listed time of (2:59), but an actual time of (3:20). Current database CD lengths run between (3:11) and (3:17).

I noticed in the database that even the mono single
collections run short of the actual time of this 45. Does anyone know if the timing difference is a pitch difference, or that they faded it early? |

Mark, I have just MBF'd you a dub of my best-condition promo 45. You will
be able to confirm this soon enough, but to my ears the fade on the 45 seems to go on for a few extra seconds, whereas all CD versions seem to dump out of it a tad early. Please let us know what your official analysis uncovers! |

Thsnks, Jim. I'll check it out against the Hitsville USA box and see what's up.
