I recently heard Tiffany's All This Time, which I
haven't heard in years, on an 80's station. My ears are
more fine tuned these days. Has anyone ever noticed at
the 3:16 mark it sounds like an abrupt edit? At least to
my ears. Perhaps the song was longer and then edited to
make it shorter before it was pressed as there aren't
any longer versions to my knowledge.

Wow, that is bad.

It's also possible that it was a bad punch-in of comped
guitar solos on the multi-track.

that's definitely another possibility. Either way it
sounds awkward.

Sounds fine to me, and I've loved this song for years.
But... my store-bought 45 of this song was pressed off-
center, so the whole song has always sounded terrible in
that format.

Great tune, though. And Tiffany still sounds great live
in 2021. Go see her if she's playing anywhere near you.

Another one that has fallen into my list of forgotten tunes. I listened to three separate links in youtube and didn't hear anything wrong with it in the time zone.

Are you talking about the lead guitar dropping in? I think that was around 2:55-ish and also didn't sound harsh at all.
<Dave> Someone please tell I-Heart Radio that St. Louis is not known as The Loo!

He's talking about the abrupt mid-note change in the
middle of the guitar solo at approx. 3:16.

I remember thinking after first hearing it years ago that the change sounded abrupt, but I thought that's just the way the guitarist played it. Now
that I hear it again, I can see how it could sound like an edit to some people (and it possibly may have been).

After not noticing the original horrible edits like "While You See a Chance", "Dream On" and even the somewhat bad "Through the Years" when they were hits - I then noticed them years later afer being pointed out to me. And I can never un-hear them afterward, and I now find them jarring (although I've since done my own edits on all 3 and they sound better). So I've decided I'm not even going to listen to this spot on "All This Time". I've always enjoyed this song and heard it quite a few times the past few years - never noticed anything wrong - and would prefer to keep it that way :)
But now that my ears are more fine-tuned than when I was a kid or in my 20s, I have noticed other singles that have awkward-sounding "cuts" - not sure if they were really edited there, or something else happened.
