I think nobody mentioned here, there is a UK compilation
"Everything is gonna be alright, 50 years of Westbound records Soul & Funk" released on CD last November, which includes Devil's gun single version (3:18), a #37 BB hit plus a few others Top 100 hits all in its short 45 version. |

On that recent CD track 12 is "Funky Worm" by the Ohio Players. Is that the LP version or the 45 version? I believe the intro on the two versions are not identical.

No, it seems to be different, somebody posted the actual
45 on youtube and I was able to check it out. Instrumental intro is a few seconds longer in the 45. Sorry I'm not very technical about this. This version matches the ones included in two other UK compilations I have(a best of Ohio Players - on Westbound - and one by the name of Soul years 1973 on the Knight label). Devil's gun however is identical to the one on the 45 I have. |
