Don't know if this has been covered, but I just came across a 5:12 version of this song that makes me wonder if it might in fact be the 45 version and the "Now" version (4:43) that's listed in the DB, the DJ edit. It's on a 2-cd Columbia/Sony set titled "All Time Great Love Songs of the 60's, 70's, 80's & 90's vol 3." Does anyone know anything about this version?

Does it have a cold ending, or does it fade like the 45 mix? At the time, we initially carted this song off the white label promo 12". It was some mix that was not exactly the same as the 45 mix on the CD single, but close. It wasn't one of the "hip hop" remixes, and I'm sure it wasn't as long as the 6:25 album version. I don't remember much beyond that, but I'll see if I can find the record. That reminds me...when the song was first carted, the record had a skip and repeated one line of the song. No one fixed it for a few weeks, so the song had that skip every time it played. Oops. |

It's a fade. And it didn't sound like an early fade, but I didn't listen too closely. I worked for a radio station that played Turn Down Day from a cart with the splice right in the middle. To this day, it just doesn't sound right without that glitch.

Well, the 45 version is the version that was the leadoff track on the commercial CD single, which runs an actual 4:43, so the database is correct. The single also has the Rickidy Raw Urban Mix, running 4:19, and a song called "I Remember." Not sure what the 5:12 version is... the LP version runs 6:27. Edited by Brian W. |

I've seen listings online for a "short radio version" with
a listed time of 3:47. TM Century also has the short version in their database. Does anyone know how to recreate this short version? |

The "(U.K.) Radio Version" clocks at 5:16. This version was used for the rest of the world as well, except North America. It can found on all of the CD Maxi Singles released
outside of North America. The 4.45 version is the "(U.S.) Single Version", which was used for the U.S. and Canada. I don't even remember this version, but if I were to venture a guess, I would say that this version gets rid of the spoken intro? |

The version on the U.S. CD single does include a 57 second spoken intro, if that's what you're referring to. |

The promo CD I have is PRCD 7779-2. It is a 1-track disc with the "Radio Edit" (no printed time; 4:44 actual time).
The version on TM Studio's discs simply cuts off the first :57 of the "Radio Edit." It starts at full volume on the first drum hit. |

By the way, I've not seen an official US promo with the "Short Radio Edit"; however, discogs lists a German promo CD with this version. Sometimes, TM has issued non-US edits of songs on the US HitDisc ("A" discs) and GoldDisc libraries. I believe this is because they are serviced European releases/promos in addition to US releases.
