I only have these 2 Expose singles on album:

#55/93 As Long As I Can Dream
#84/94 In Walked Love

I noticed both are rather lengthy at 4:51, so I checked "Pop Annual" and saw that both singles are about 9-10 seconds shorter. Does anyone know if these were sped up or perhaps have edits? (One song has a rather lengthy guitar solo, which I thought might be edited in half). Has anyone compared the album and singles on these?

Thanks to Chuck (cmmm), I found out that "In Walked Love" indeed has an edit. The 2nd half of the long guitar solo is edited out.

It's interesting that Hykker says "As Long As I Can Dream" has a promo with a listed time of 4:23. In the "Pop Annual" book, the time is listed as 4:42 - both of which are shorter than the 4:51 album time. Does anyone know what's going on here - i.e. what was done to the promo single?

As has been mentioned on this board before, the actual run times of most early 1990s hits are about five to ten seconds longer than the times listed in Pop Annual 1955-1999, apparently the result of cassette singles being timed on a cassette player that did not play them at the correct speed. Can anyone confirm that these run times were corrected in subsequent editions?

I was always interested in the timing listed by the record company, even if it wasn't always correct. Since we've mostly discussed top 40 singles on this board, on average are the timings listed on vinyl albums just as screwy, or are they more accurate?

Never actually timed too many myself, but am just curious if all these timing discrepancies just applied to 45s.

Just realized-the promo version of "In Walked Love" is available commercially on "Playlist:The Very Best of Expose". Thanks, Tom, for your help!

Does anyone have the commercial singles of "As Long As I
Can Dream" and "In Walked Love" and can verify their
running times? Discogs lists the US 45 run time for "As
Long As I Can Dream" at 4:49, while the version on the
"Playlist" CD is listed as "Single Version" with a
running time of 4:25. "In Walked Love" was apparently
released commercially only as a Cassette Single, but
Discogs doesn't list a running time for it.
