Never noticed the LP version note for all CD appearances of this song. What's
the difference b/n 45 and LP? please

The discussion from BSN indicates (I think) that there are no background vocals on the first verse of the single version. There may also be some different ocean sounds, too. I personally don't have the 45, so I can't really verify. However, compared to the referenced youtube video, listen especially around 15-24 seconds in on the lp version, which has prominent background vocals...the youtube single does not have those.

Sorry about having to "cut and paste" those links!

thanks, Jono!

another 45 version discovery for my collection. I keep a database where I
make note of the actual 45/LP differences, among much other info, for my
songs...

I am a regular on BSN as well, but I find with SO many categories now, I can
easily miss important news there. Here, with only the one forum, I don't
miss a thing.

You're welcome!

I just happened to remember coming across this topic while lurking on BSN recently (something I frequently do), and fortunately found the source. Hopefully the Ace London Years 1963 cd will have the correct 45 version, otherwise I'll be searching for the 45.

For those looking for the single version:

It appears the single version of "Wonderful Summer" can be found on the Ace import "The London American Label Year By Year 1963" cd. The 45 version of Roy Orbison's "In Dreams" appears to be on this cd as well.

I happened to be reading through the liner notes to the above CD, while
doing a favor for someone today. They mentioned that one-hit wonder Robin
Ward's vocals were also featured on a Top 10 hit. She sang the part of the
"senorita" on Pat Boone's last Top 10 hit, 1962's "Speedy Gonzales." I never
knew that. I always wondered who that singer was. Thought she was a key
part of that song's success. Decided to post this, just in case anyone else
is/was ever also curious about it.
