What's the deal with this single? I just compared mine to the Rhino Soul Hits of the 70's #4 version and I found that the single has removed a section from 2:04.211 - 2:25.288, which, if you make the edit, shortens the Rhino version by about 21 seconds. It just fades out at 2:18, while the 45 continues on to 2:41. There's also a lot more audience in the intro of the 45 (:03.83 seconds) as opposed to :01.2 seconds on the Rhino version. So the existing versions as listed should be what - a different edit? Neither 45 nor LP? It isn't an alternate take, because it tracks identically up to the edit (although the 45 is slower than the Rhino version. Can anyone confuse me further on this, please?

I haven't listened to that one for a long time.
I have a promo 45 which I haven't listened to for a long time.
Got a decent amount of airplay here in Johnstown, PA.
Great instrumental!
the way it was heard on the radio

I went back and listened to my vinyl 45 again and it runs (2:44) not (2:40) as stated on the record label. The matrix number is 21006-A RE. So Robert I bet you have the same matrix number without the RE and therefore there could be two different pressings of this 45.

But the 45 version I have is not equal to the vinyl LP version which does run (2:40). All appearances in the database are the LP version!

Pat,
The matrix number on my 45 is X-21006-A. No "RE." But it runs 2:44, not 2:41. Could the difference be in the intro? Mine has a little over 3 seconds of audience. I'm also wondering if there is an actual LP version that has the missing ending - maybe a pt 1 & pt 2?

There is a :03 difference in the introduction between the 45 and LP version but there are other differences after the 2:00 mark.
