I was wondering if anyone was armed with the edited versions of the following Stevie Nicks singles:
Leather And Lace Nightbird Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You Maybe we can turn this into a Stevie Single Versions thread since I cannot find anything remotely resembling a reference elsewhere on the web. :) |

I have made custom edits of the first two. Without putting the LP and 45 versions together again, I wouldn't be able to recall the edit points.

I had the 45 of "Has Anyone Ever Written..." and now have the CD. I don't recall hearing new parts when I bought the CD. Anyone know if this had an edit or early fade? My guess is it didn't.

Gordon: My latest Whitburn books shows a 45 time of (3:59) for "Has Anyone Ever....". Just pulled out my promo 45 - one side has a listed time of (4:35), says "Vocal/LP Version", which I assume is the one you now have on CD. The other side of my promo 45 says "Vocal/Faded Version", has a listed time of (3:59), but an actual time of (4:03). Hope you can sort it out from here, sir.

I don't know the LP version of "Leather And Lace", but we use a 45 dub at my station, so here's how the single is arranged. Maybe this will help you:
0.13 - Stevie's verse ("Isn't love so fragile") 1.03 - First chorus - Stevie alone 1.32 - Henley's verse ("You and the moonlight") 2.22 - Duet chorus 2.49 - Chorus repeats 3.16 - Stevie's coda ("take from me...") 3.22 - Fade begins 3.28 - Song ends |

On "Leather And Lace" there is only one edit. At the end of the
second verse, where she sings "Still I carry this feeling, When you walked into my house, that you won't be walking out the door", on the LP version she sings this part twice, but only once on the 45 version. The edit comes (to my ears) between the first "...walked into my house" and the second "that you won't be...". This occurs at approximately the :56 mark, and the edit is up to 1:08 approximately, on the beat. Hope this helps. |

My turntable is not accessable at the moment, but I can report that my commercial 45 of "Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You" (7-99532) has a listed time of 4:35. The matrix number is ST-MR-49550-1. FWIW, the master number suffix printed on the label (SP) and the trail-off wax markings indicate that it was pressed by Specialty Records of Olyphant, PA, a plant which was, at that time, owned by Warner Music, and generally serviced WEA pressings for the eastern half of the country.

I just wanted to follow up on an interesting discovery today.
Jim wrote: <Gordon: My latest Whitburn books shows a 45 time of (3:59) for "Has Anyone Ever....". Since it wasn't the short (3:59) version of the 45, I just assumed it was the same as the album version I have on CD. Interestingly, it's not. The difference is the mix! And the mix is only different in the coda. It's kind of subtle but it seems to me there's an instrument on the CD during the last several seconds that is NOT on the 4:35 single version! (Has anyone else ever noticed this? Or to paraphase Stevie, Has Anyone Ever Written Anything about this? :) And my main question is -- has this single version appeared on any US or import CD?? And does anyone know what the edits are for the 3:59 version? I've never heard that version. Edited by EdisonLite |

Reviving this thread to see if anyone has edit points to create the 45 version of "Nightbird".
