Both my commercial and promo 45s for this have a listed time of (4:06), but an actual time of (4:02). This (4:02) timing is exactly the same as both of its current CD appearances in the database. One final question, though. On both sides of my promo 45, below the timing, it states (Edit). This does not appear on my commercial 45. Was there indeed a longer version somewhere? I know that MCA issued the movie soundtrack for this film on CD, but "Love Touch" (aka "Theme From Legal Eagles") does not seem to appear on it. Possibly because he was a WB artist, and MCA couldn't license/include this song on their soundtrack LP, as a result of that? I know that many times such issues CAN be worked out, like with Bob Seger's "Shakedown" a year later in '87, with the Capitol artist appearing on the MCA soundtrack CD for "Beverly Hills Cop II". (By the way, Seger was a last-minute replacement singer for then-MCA solo artist Glenn Frey, who had come down with laryngitis - Seger only agreed to sing it if he could rewrite the lyrics, though!) The only LP that "Love Touch" seems to appear on is his self-titled 1986 WB LP/CD, which clocks in at (4:02). Maybe the (Edit) designation was all just simply a promo 45 label typo?

I'm almost sure I once came across a promo 12" of "Love Touch" marked as having the edit on side A and "LP version" on side B. I already had the edit on 45 and wasn't interested in the LP version so I passed. Wish I'd picked that 12" up given the info provided by Jim...

You're right. The promo 12" lists the edit (4:06) b/w LP Version (5:03). I'll time this when I have a minute. |

Hi Jim & 995wlol,
The promo 12" is PRO-A-2505. Side 1 - (Edit) listed 4:06 is NOT the 45 version as it has NO INTRO. Side 2 - (LP Version) listed 5:03 can NOT be used to create the 45 as the intro (which is twice as long as the 45) has no synthesised maraccas on it. I don't beleive this version made any commercial pressings or Lps. Andy |

I have a copy of a UK 12" featuring the "Extended Version" (listed 5:00; actual 4:53). Evidently, this is a completely different mix than what Andy has on his promo copy. On the intro, which is also twice as long as the 45 intro, there ARE synthesized maraccas. While I haven't actually tried to edit this version down to match the 45, my guess is that it would work, because it sounds like the same mix. So, that is probably where the "Edit" notation comes from on the 45s.

Has anyone been able to verify any vinyl LP pressings to see if this longer 5:03 version of "Love Touch" had ever surfaced on one of them? |
