I've noticed a trend for the majors to release albums (which have never been released on CD) to be released digitally (from master tape) on sites like qobuz, 7 Digital, Tidal, iTunes, etc. I thought I'd create a list/post here, for people to add to, because a lot of people who are looking to upgrade their vinyl albums to tape sources can do so, even though the albums were never released on CD.
No requirements for this list. Although I'm mostly including artists who've had top 40 hits (though not necessarily on these albums), I've made exceptions - just in case someone finds something on here they're interested in buying: Smokey Robinson - Yes It's You Lady, Touch the Sky, Essar Commodores - 13 Barbara Mandrell - Get to the Heart, In Black & White, Just for the Record, Love Is Fair, Moments, Spun Gold, Moods + more Dottie West - Full Circle, High Times, New Horizons, Wild West + more Spinners - Grand Slam Four Tops - Back Where I Belong, Magic Stacy Lattisaw - Young and in Love BW Stevenson - Lifeline Billy Swan - You're OK, I'm OK Mark Lindsay - You've Got a Friend Brotherhood of Man - Singing a Song, Good Fortune, B for Brotherhood, Higher than High Deborah Allen - Cheat the Night David Geddes - Run Joey Run Helen Reddy - Reddy, Take What You Find Richard Kerr - Richard Kerr Actually, all these artists had top 40 hits except Richard Kerr who wrote 5 for Barry Manilow & Dionne Warwick Beware of these - they are not on CD, are available digitally, but from VINYL: Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds - Hallway Symphony Billy Preston - Pressin' On Al Wilson - I've Got a Feeling Burton Cummings - Sweet Sweet Lulu - Don't Take Love for Granted, Lulu, Take Me to Your Heart Again Leslie Pearl - Words and Music Oak - Oak Orleans - One of a Kind Edited by EdisonLite |

On the "from vinyl" list, I'll add:
Helen Reddy - Play Me Out Helen Reddy - Imagination There are two releases of each, one is on Geffen, and one is on the Wizard label (an Australian label). Both are clearly from vinyl. |

Billy Preston is by far the most under represented on
disc. How could somebody who was the only artist ever billed as a feature on a Beatles song be forgotten? |

I'm pretty sure its due to those tapes being lost in the Universal fire. Each album partially was issued as a comp back in 1995 by Varese Sarabande called, "When I Dream." Those tracks were sourced from tape so if you're a Reddy fan track that disc down. They could at least get better vinyl rips up. The ones I did on basic equipment are far better than the crackly mess represented online. |

Yeah, I've had that CD for many years. But there have to be tape dubs in foreign countries. I'm particularly surprised that Wizard Records in Australia didn't have one. |

It is worth clarifying that the Disney "Thrilling Chilling Sounds of the Haunted House" is the original release from 1964. This is the one most of us will think of, with Laura Olsher setting up the first half of the sound effect tracks with her wonderful narration.
If you remember, "you are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hilltop near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you NEVER return...," then you remember this classic Disneyland recording. :) Disney released another "Chilling Thrilling..." album in 1979 with a different album cover, but confusingly it was all new sound effects, no narration, and to my ears not nearly as entertaining.
