my commercial cd single for the sylk-e fine song 'romeo and
juliet' featuring chill issued as rca 64973 contains the
below tracks

1-lp version (4:35 listed; 4:35 actual)
2-instrumental (4:35 listed; 4:35 actual)

i only point this out because most of the db entries run in
the 4:28-4:30 range.....do these cds dump the song early?

this cd single info s/b added to the db...

Yes, I'm also interested in recreating the radio edit,
if possible.

Yes, the most obvious difference is alternate lyrics on the chorus. The "Radio Edit" says "hot sex on a platter just to make you sweat." The LP version says "hot sex on a platter just to get you wet." There are some other lyrical changes, too, within the verses to make it less explicit for radio.

Yes Ed, I just went through each of the cd's in the database and found many that feature the radio edit. All of the cd's that run (4:28) or (4:29) are the radio edit. All others are the LP version. Now Ed, which version is featured on the cassette single as I need to know before I actually enter the data? I suspect the cassette single is the radio edit which would be the 45 version.

According to Joel Whitburn, the official single configuration is the cassette single.
