this one hasn't been exposed yet
the 45 version of steve winwood's hit "while you see a chance" actually runs 5:13 and NOT 4:07 as listed on the 45's face and is the same as the version from "chronicles" cd island 842364 BUT i have the vinyl lp of "chronicles" issued as island 25660 and that version runs 4:07 and is identical to the version on the time life cd "sounds of the 80's:early 80's:take two" issued as time life r988-18 so the database is incorrect. the 45 version actually runs 5:13 and is the same as the chronicles 5:13 version please make a note as to the vinyl version of chronicles also contains the 4:07 edit version which maybe out there somewere as the dj edit any thoughts |

My commerical 45 for "While You See A Chance" (Island 49656) is
the edited version that times out to 4:05. The inner ring is IS - 49656 WAA - 9858 VI -S-LW1. |

I also have the 45 with PS. The one commonly found on CD is the version
with more lyrics. |

Ed,
I located my Picture sleeve 45 and timed it. I will confirm that the 45 version does indeed time out at 4:05. |

I think it was issued both ways on 45.

Of note: On the picture sleeve are the lyrics to the song. It has only the lyrics
of the 4:07 edit and no additional lyrics that appear in the longer version. |

Pat, I noticed that you make the notation ("Chronicles" vinyl LP and short 45 version) next to the Time Life CD in the database. Wouldn't it make more sense to list it simply as (short 45 version), since the LP Chronicles is a compilation and came out years after the song was a hit? With this notation, it makes the reader think that there is more than one LP version, when actually the "short 45 version" was included on vinyl pressings of Chronicles.

Just trying to point out that the "Chronicles" cd and the "Chronicles" vinyl LP do not feature the same version of "While You See A Chance".

Yes, I understood what you were trying to show; however, I only knew from having read this thread on the message board. One example that I will point out is "Want Ads" by Honey Cone, which you list as having two different LP versions---one from Sweet Replies and one from Soulful Tapestry.
The notation on the Steve Winwood track made me think that was the case with "While You See A Chance," too. You might label it in the same way you did "Dirty Laundry" by Don Henley, making the notation next to Chronicles (vinyl copies contain the short 45 version). Just trying to keep things consistent... the cd's running 5:13 have a few seconds of music from the previous track which causes the song to run 0:02 longer than the actual 5:11 running 45...this should be noted in the db....
