my commercial 45 for the gordon lightfoot song "rainy day people" issued as reprise 1328 states the run time on the label as 2:43 and is an edit of the full length 2:47 cd/lp version....the song is the same up until the 1:53 mark and then the 45 has lyrics while the cd version does not....then it picks up again later in the song.....the sections seam to be flip flopped 45 versus the cd version.....i will be sending john the 45 to see if he can replicate the edit....pat, do any of the cd versions in the d/b contain lyrics from 1:52 to 1:58??

To create the 45 version:
Keep 0:00 - 1:52.759 Remove 1:52.759 - 1:57.110 Keep 1:57.110 - the end Pitch down your file 1%. The resulting file runs 2:43. |

gotta be one of the shortest edits of an already short song! wonder how
many other songs would join such an odd group? |

This 45 version certainly ranks up there with 'why bother'...

None of the cd's in the database contain the 45 version.

Thanks Aaron. In reading the re-creation of the 45 above, they take off 4.5 seconds, and then they slow it down by 1%, which of course in itself makes the 45 version a little longer. How odd! If you want to make it 4.5 seconds shorter, why then slow it down to make it a bit longer than the edit would be?!?

Gordon, unfortunately I didn't save notes on what source I
used to recreate the edit. So, not sure if the source I used was faster or slower than other sources of the LP version. |
