I have the album version, running 5:55, on Spotlight On Hits Vol. 8.

I have an unnamed version, running about 4:32, on Top Hits USA RH14. To my ears, it just sounds like an early fade of the album version, fading before the long reprise at the end of the album version.

Is this truly an early fade? My copy of the book says "LP version", but I know that designation is sometimes used for very early fades.

Hi CFTP,

The promo single is a remix/edit running a little over 4 minutes (probably the commercial single was too).

The version on Top Hits USA was an early-faded album mix. Why, I don't know, but I can hazard a guess that Top Hits learned it was going to be the next single & made their own shorter version not realizing a new special mix was forthcoming.

The non-described version I have on my TM disc runs 4:10. It's definitely a different mix from the LP version.

my commercial cassingle issued as epic 74336 does not state a version or run time on the sleeve or cassette itself, but runs 4:12...it does state "produced and arranged by walter afanasieff" as well as "engineered and mixed by dana jon chappelle".....this cassette run time info s/b added to the db..

Ron,

I'm trying to tackle this specific issue you came across.

There are only 3 versions of the song that come off CD's or promos: The Radio Edit found on ESK-74336 which is also on TM Century, The LP version found on Celine Dion and an Extended Mix of 6:39 found on the CD Promo Sampler from 1992, track 2.

My conclusion is that the 4:32 is a legit version that appeared on a Philippines rare 7'' with the early fade marketed outside the US but included by Top Hits at the time. Even though the notes are deceptive on discogs without listening, it runs 4:33 on vinyl, which is the time that matches the Top Hits USA Discogs listing.
