I was listening to Mr. Mister's "Is It Love" on their Best of CD (Buddha 99779) and notice it contains a different mix than the one on the group's parent CD/LP Welcome to the Real World. The version on Best of is a "hotter" mix with louder percussion and added reverb. The insert tray on the back of the Best of CD case indicates that all songs on the disc appear "in the original single versions". This claim seems to carry some credibility given the fact that other Top 40 hits such as "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie" do indeed appear in 45 version form on this CD.

I e-mailed Ed to see if he could shoot me an mp3 of his "Is It Love" 45 so that I can compare it to the mix on Best of and see if it checks out. However, I'm not sure if Ed has returned from his travels yet. Can anyone confirm or deny if we have a 45/LP mix difference here?

I only have a dj copy of this 45, and the dj 45 is not the version found on "Best Of" which must be a remix.

The remixed version appearing on the Best of disc also runs a bit longer than all other CD apprearances. Can anyone confirm for us the run time of their "Is It Love" commercial 45 copy?

Also, Pat, I see the song has a shortened run time of 3:23 on the 1985 - Only Love - 1989 CD compared to all other disc appearances in the database. Is this run time a typo, an early fade, or an edit of some sort?

Todd, the (3:23) version found on JCI 3186 is just an early fade of the song.

The stock 45 label states "remixed by Mike Shipley".
Perhaps this is an issue in which the "LP Version"
accidentally got pressed to vinyl instead of the remixed
version by Mike Shipley. When compiling the "Best Of"
for 2001, the planned single remix was discovered in the
vaults. Have we confirmed all these years later that the
"LP Version" is on all 45 stock copies?

Bumping this thread back up regarding the remix heard on
some of the "Best Of" cds. I think this is an edited
remix of the dance mix version found on the promo
and commercial 12" vinyl. I compared them and they are
identical in sound just not length. The interesting
thing is I don't see any evidence of a radio mix on any
7" or 12" vinyl from 85/86 on Discogs. I wonder if this
edited mix was created for the best of cd in 2001 or
just hasn't been listed on Discogs yet.
