I've verified with Edtop40 that commercial 45 copies of Hall & Oates' "Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid" run (4:02), not (3:50) as stated on the record label. This info should probably be incorporated into the database.

Can the 45 version be edited from the album track?

Don't know if it can be recreated from the Album Version,
but I believe the 45 version is on the Japanese import "The Best Of Daryl Hall And John Oates" which has 21 tracks and has several single versions and a few radio edits. |

The 45 version can definitely be extracted from the LP version. I have
done so, but I did not keep notes on my edit points. It was a pretty standard process, though. I think you just cut a whole lot of things in half basically — the intro, a chorus or two, and the instrumental bridge IIRC. |

That Japan "Best Of" is an interesting collection. Was there a 3:26 version of "Maneater?" I don't recall that song was ever edited. EternalStatic: That's what I feared - it does not sound as if this would be easy to edit. There's no obvious sections that could be cut out. |

Regarding “Maneater,” there is a US promo 45 edit that trims the intro
and sax solo, and I’m pretty sure it also fades early. |

Yes, like Aaron said, there was indeed a Promo 45 of "Maneater" running 3:26 and that version is on the Japanese "Best Of". The Promo Edit of "So Close" is also on there as well, even though the actual promo CD single incorrectly listed it as "Single Edit". Edited by thecdguy |

I thought I had posted edit details for this in an
older thread.. I did and found the instructions, but I just checked the LP version and noticed my edit points in that old thread were for a "pitch corrected" LP version. The 45 was sped up a bit. Here are the edit times for the non-pitched LP version: These times assume you'll make edits starting at the intro [the later times are only accurate if you've already done the first edits]. There are 3 edits: Edit on downbeat from :04 - :21 in intro. Edit on snare from 2:11 - 2:27 Edit on snare from 3:43 - 4:08 Now in that result, edit off remaining audio after 4:04 then fade from about 3:46 to 4:04. The last thing you hear at the end of the fade is the word "unsaid" I don't have the exact pitch number but you'll speed up your result so it runs 4:02. Here is a Youtube reference for the 45 to be sure of your edits (note the record doesn't start playing until :19 seconds in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zP91dqJ3KhQ MM Edited by MMathews |

I thought it was going to be a topic on Olivia Newton-
John's "I Honestly Love you"lol.:D |

You know you're really older when you think that younger singer Jesse McCartney's related in anyway to former Beatle Paul McCartney.
