My commercial 45, confirmed as Chess 1883, has a listed time of (2:30), but an actual time of (2:34).

Guessing that the 45 fades earlier than all of the database entries. If so, does anyone have fade points for the true 45 fade?

I see what's going on here: my commercial 45 on Chess 1906 states a time of (2:42) and the song gets buried under the cheap plastic's hiss ever so shy of that mark that I'd peg it at (2:42) as well.
I'm guessing that Jim needed a bit more caffeine when he made his initial post, since Chess 1883 is actually Chuck's "Nadine (Is It You?)" :) Edited by Yah Shure |

It actually appears that all of the information Jim originally posted here has to do with "Nadine (Is It You?)" and not "You Never Can Tell". Maybe Jim can chime in here and confirm??? Edited by Paul Haney |

Thanks to Yah Shure, I was able to hear the original Chess 1906 commercial 45 of "You Never Can Tell." Just as John describes, it is the same length as the stereo version on CD.
Also, for those curious, the mono 45 is merely a fold-down of the stereo mix. |

Thanks, John & Paul (hey, didn't you guys write a bunch of #1 hits back in
the 60's?) Whether it was caffeine withdrawal or just a "senior moment" back in 4/2009 is still TBD, but both you guys are right - all my initially provided info was actually for "Nadine", not "You Never Can Tell". My sincere apologies to one and all...... |
