Since Chipmunk Punk has been brought up, here's the promo insert for the "You May Be Right" single:

And the cardboard (!) picture sleeve for the follow-up 45:

FYI, the Excelsior label got its name from Excelsior Boulevard in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, where the Pickwick (formerly Heilicher Brothers) headquarters were located.

Dude! I remember this one, too! And I also owned a copy of the Mickey Disco record! Dang, I forgot all about those...

Go ahead and sing along with me, Aaron...

The one I remember most was the "Patience" song featuring Herbert The Snail. My wife didn't remember this record too well, but her favorite was "Germs (My Invisible Dog)" on the album Down By The Creek Bank.

I've got the Mickey Mouse Disco lp, the Mousercise lp, (these are thanks to my mother being a school teacher and me having to find new copies of the albums to replace the ones i trashed as a kid!) but i've never been able to replace my copy of Rock Around The Mouse. Of course i hadnt looked for it in years, and now there are plenty on ebay (on both vinyl and cd!). Looks like ive got something new to buy, and bring back some old memories.... even Little Richard is on this lp with Gawrsh Golly Goofy! I can remember that song slightly but not very well.
Live in stereo.

A very reliable source, who seems to have inside knowledge of the Ace Records label in the UK, tells me that the mono single mix of "The Chipmunk Song" will be included on their upcoming "London American Label - 1958" disc, to be released in the first half of 2011.

It will be mastered from the original 1958 UK master tape (presumably a high-quality dub of the Liberty master tape), which is still safe and sound in the Decca UK vault.

I wish I'd known about the "Chipmunk Punk" CD when it came out in 2005. I liked their version of "You May Be Right" and now of course the CD is extremely rare. I still have yet to see it on Discogs or eBay. I think it's on YouTube, though.

"Ragtime Cowboy Joe" and "Alvin's Harmonica" are both in mono on this download release from Capitol. I think this is probably identical to the 2003 Japanese CD issue of this compilation (and the download does say released 11/3/03):

Actually, I just noticed that the Japanese CD catalogue number is on the cover in the upper right, so this must be identical to the Japanese CD.
