I just picked up this (4:29) 45 yesterday. I gave it the old A-B, and it's simply the LP version faded early.

I don't recall a vinyl disc being serviced to radio.
I remember that same version released as a CDPro.
Also enclosed was an insert that announced the release of the single.
It looked much like a newspaper.
The days when a new release was a big event on radio.
the way it was heard on the radio

I have a white label dj copy of this 45. Stated time is (4:29) and actual time is (4:27).

I think that import title also has 45 edits of Piano Man,
Only The Good Die Young, My Life and Just The Way You Are
. The last song also is marked as the DJ edit.

"Only The Good Die Young" has a 45 edit (always
thought it was identical to the album version)?

"Only the Good Die Young" in Piano Man: The Very Best
of Billy Joel
is the LP version which is the same as
the 45.

OK I was going by liner notes or remarks at other places.
I will correct my notes accordingly.
