I only heard the video edit. That is the "hit version" as far as I know. Anything else on the promo CD might have gotten limited airplay. A similar situation a few years later happened for DJ Mike's What's Up where the promo CD did not have the "hit version" either.

I never heard on radio any of the edits on the promo CD. For those who heard this on the radio in 1991 - did you hear "This AIDS thing is not working" or the censored variant "This SAFE thing is not working"?

There were two promo CDs issued for this track, a 6-track (CDP 406) release with the Radio Edit as track 1, and a 1-track (CDP 406 REV) release with the censored SAFE lyric.

This track's situation is a bit of a mess - I can definitely see import CDs being played on US radio. I just don't understand why there'd be not one, but two promo CDs issued and most people weren't hearing any of the tracks from each one - unless most radio stations had their hands on import CDs that were released weeks, if not months, prior.

I'll go with the Original Remix Radio Edit, since it has a lot of what you guys recall hearing on the radio. The LP version is quite long, and I can imagine creating the edits from memory wouldn't be an easy task, nor would it be 100% that they're all correct.

Actually, one thing I can't say for sure is whether I heard the entire album version or an unofficial edit. I think it would often end on the 'dance, dance, dance, dance' chant, which could mean they just ducked out at 3:50.

On the European CD single, there's a "Radio Edit" by Los Angeles-based engineer Josh Schneider, and it cuts down the album version to about 3:31 and ends with the chant, but cutting off the last 'dance'.
