Author: TomDiehl1
Subject: 7601
Posted: 05 August 2013 at 5:44pm

The timing is off between the two versions because the 2:28 version is playing at the originally recorded speed. At least that is my guess.

I originally thought the stereo LPs ran slower, but I just pulled out mono and stereo pressings of both the Right Or Wrong LP as well as the first Best Of LP on Diamond and they all ran the same speed as the 45, so it's not a 45 vs LP difference.

I also pulled out the All Time Greatest Hits LP on Certron, same speed there but the sound on it is better than any of the Diamond pressings. In fact, checking all of my albums with the song in stereo, they ALL run the proper 45 rpm speed, which means that this slower version originated in the cd era.

It's been difficult trying to put dates on the years on several of Ronnie's cds that have come out, including one in Japan that I believe was the first to issue the song on cd (and it was also at the slower speed) and a Canadian cd on Polytel Elite.

I've sent Ronnie cd-r's of upgraded quality recordings of a number of his songs over the years but I don't think he knows there's much of a difference with them and so he hasn't done much of anything with them and sticks with what he already has. Now, Ronnie has a lot of his old recordings on DAT's which I hope to gain access to soon (to once and for all determine just exactly what he has copies of in his posession).

Edited by TomDiehl1

Hoping that is the case
here, Tom! :)

My commercial 45, confirmed as Diamond 167, with deadwax info of "D-
167A", has a listed time of (2:22) and an actual time of (2:23). I only post
this info because all six current CDs that feature this song (all stereo) run :05
longer, at exactly (2:28). Crossing fingers here that Mr. Diehl can provide us
with additional insight, regarding the 45 vs. CD differences....
