    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://top40musiconcd.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=89">crapfromthepast</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 5917<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 21&nbsp;September&nbsp;2010 at 10:31am<br /><br />Always wondered what that odd sounds actually was...<br /><br />I didn't keep terribly detailed notes when I compared the various version of the song a few years back, but I'm pretty sure that the only instance of the song fading <strong>before</strong> the door closing is on the 2-CD UK set from Telstar from around 1989, <em>The Very Best Of The Electric Light Orchestra</em>.  That particular CD is a good source for the two hits from <em>Xanadu</em>, but the sound quality on everything else is pretty weak.  You're better served with the 2-CD <em>Strange Magic</em> from 1995.]]>

My copy from T-L's <em>Sounds Of The Seventies:  1979</em> has a drumbeat following the faded out echo vocal at the very end (at the (4:01) mark).  I don't ever remember having heard that on the radio before, and wondering if it was that way on the commercial single, and if promo copies excised it if it was.<br /><br />Listening to it on SiriusXM's AT40 reair today (the 9/15/79 chart), the drumbeat wasn't audible as Casey outroed the song.]]>
