I think the song still would've been a hit, assuming that it still would've been used in the Revlon commercial. Aaron, giving credit where credit is due here, it was actually our all-around-good-guy John, from Erie, PA (eriejwg) who un-earthed the correct chart year of 1992 for "Move This". my commercial cassingle issued as sbk/emi 50400 does not state a version on either the cardboard sleeve or the cassingle itself but contains the below 2 tracks

Jim, you are correct that this song was a chart hit in 1992, thanks to that Cindy Crawford Revlon commercial. I have the edit, designated as "Hit Mix" on my Top Hits USA disc, on

• Mega Hits Of The '90s (Time-Life, 2001; mastered by Dennis Drake)
• Sounds Of The '90s (2-CD set from Time-Life, 2000, and digitally identical to above CD)
• Razor & Tie Presents The Big '90s (1996; 0.9 dB louder than above two)
• TM Century (different EQ than all of above)
• Top Hits USA RH14 (weird clipping in waveform; sound much better on all of above CDs)

I have the album version on:

• Cosmopolitan Volume 8 - Dance Edition (Sandstone, 1994; mastered by Steve Hoffman - sounds excellent)
• Hot Hits - Pop - Vol. 15 (almost certainly a digital clone of Technotronic CD)
• Spotlight On Hits - Vol. 8 (level change from Hot Hits CD, and also likely a clone of Technotronic CD)
• Two Awesome (PolyTel Canada; different EQ than above two)

Unlike like the case with the song "Pump Up The Jam", nearly all of these CDs sound pretty good.

Here are instructions for creating the so-called "Hit Mix" from the album version (timings from Cosmopolitan):

Keep the first 40 beats from 0:00.0-0:20.2.
Edit on downbeat.
Remove the 16 beats from 0:20.2-0:28.2.
Keep the 184 beats from 0:28.2-1:59.7.
Edit on downbeat.
Remove the 16 beats from 1:59.7-2:07.6.
Keep the 15 beats from 2:07.6-2:15.1.
Edit on snare before downbeat.
Remove the 32 beats from 2:15.1-2:31.0.
Keep the 9 beats from 2:31.0-2:35.5.
Edit on downbeat (just an organ chord, no drums here).
Remove the 16 beats from 2:35.5-2:43.4.
Keep the 24 beats from 2:43.4-2:55.3.
Edit on downbeat.
Remove the 80 beats from 2:55.3-3:35.1.
Keep the 160 beats from 3:35.1-4:54.7.
Put a 32-beat fade from 4:38.9-4:54.7.

Your mixdown should run 3:35 with edits at 0:20.2, 1:51.7, 1:59.2, 2:03.7 and 2:15.6, with a 32-beat fade from 3:19 to 3:35.
