At first, I was thinking this would be a 45 length vs.

The UK 45 last words are from around 2.42 - 2.43:"or I shall die..". So do also the Virgin CD. Pulled out my commercial 45 which is mono, Liberty
55986. Mine also has a listed time of 2:48 but runs
2:53. The fade starts at 2:41. Last thing heard on my 45
is "oh, hello, hello."

FWIW: My UK 45 (Liberty LIB 55917 - mono) runs 2:45 (no listed time) on my turntable and matches (to my ears and don't taken into account usual mono/stereo differences) the UK CD 'Memories Are Made Of This - Virgin VTDCD 602 - stereo) from 2004. Hard to Find 45s on CD, Vol. 13: The Love Album matches also this one but has some longer ending. after listening to my vinyl 45, issued as liberty 55986,
the fade is 0:13 long; from 2:40-2:53.........all the cd
entries dump the song early, or the mono version is
purposely longer than the stereo version......the stereo
cdr version i have fades for 0:08 from 2:39-2:47....i don't

Steve, you are correct about there being two different "It Must Be Him"
45 releases on Liberty. Back in the summer of 1966, a full year before
the eventual 9/2/67 BB debut of the "hit release" of "It Must Be Him", as
Liberty 55986, your Liberty 55917 45 was released. Your 45's flip side,
"So Nice (Summer Samba)" was the 45's actual "A" side. At the time,
Carr's "vocal version" was one of several vocal versions (along with ones
by Connie Francis and Johnny Mathis, just to name two others)
attempting to compete for airplay against Walter Wanderley's then-
current instrumental hit version of the exact same song, "Summer
Samba." All 3 of these "So Fine" vocal 45 versions did make the BB AC
chart, in Sept/Oct of 1966. All, however, were dwarfed by Wanderley's
version, which reached both Top 3 AC and gave him his lone Top 40 hit
on the Hot 100. However, this earlier 1966 Liberty 55917 45 was also
issued in England. This resulted in "It Must Be Him" becoming a
"surprise" UK hit. This prompted Liberty U.S. to both re-release and
promote "It Must Be Him" as a U.S. "A" side the next year, 1967. Hope
this sheds some light on your 45's origins, Steve.

Ah... Jon, I think you may be onto something because as I review the list of recent modifications in the database, it appears all entries for "It Must Be Him" were revised on 9/14. Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure they all did previously have an "LP mix" comment next to them and that's why I filed my own audio files that way.

Todd, I noticed that up until recently Pat had this song listed as "LP
Mix" on, I think, all versions on cd in the database. I believe that he
took that comment off recently, so maybe he discovered something
was or wasn't present in the mix after all (not sure what that difference
was perceived to be). Possibly he was consulted for the new Eric cd
and it was reviewed at that point??

I notice on my Vikki Carr Best of CD on EMI 93450, "It Must Be Him" begins fading out at approximately 2:23, while the song on the Hard to Find 45s on CD, Vol. 13: The Love Album doesn't start fading until around 2:37. So can anyone point out which is more representative of when the fadeout starts occurring on the 45?

Also, for some unknown reason, I have both CD appearances of this song listed as "LP mix" on my hard drive, but the database makes no mention of a 45/LP mix difference.
