More than likely, they lifted it from the Tommy Boy Presents: Hip Hop Essentials Volume 1. This CD has a crap needle drop of "Supersonic." Several tracks across the Tommy Boy series are vinyl dubs, and it's evident that the producer made no attempt to find a master tape/CD source or at least a clean copy of the record. Some of the tracks sound like they came from worn DJ records.

I've been picking up a number of the two-disc sets on ebay and Discogs whenever I can find them dirt cheap.

Members have advised me that the best issues were produced in the mid 90's, so when I picked up a set called "Dance Dance" (2007) I wasn't expecting much. For the
JJ Fad track "Supersonic", I was hearing a lot of vinyl crackle. I don't think this was intentional as some R&B tracks sometimes do, or did in the past. I
think this is just a crap needle drop that could have been easily found in 2007 as a digital copy or CD version elsewhere.

I'm going to look around here too and see if I have another copy of this in better condition. I don't remember the crackles as part of the finished single.

Edited by AdvprosD
