Author: jimct
Subject: 2082
Posted: 17 May 2007 at 12:05am

I have two commercial 45s for this, both with a listed time of (3:55) and an actual time of (3:54). However, one copy is stereo, and the other is mono! My stereo copy, on styrene, states "stereo" on the label, and has deadwax of "KAS-577-A-1", with the "KAS 577 A" info also appearing on the label itself. My mono copy, on vinyl, does not specify stereo or mono on the label, but does happen to state the same "KAS 577 A" on the label as my other copy. However, the actual deadwax says "KA-577-A-2". Often, the letters "S" or "ST" in deadwax will indicate a stereo master. This tendency applies to my findings here: the deadwax including an "S" is stereo, and the one without an "S" is in mono. This is one of TWO 1973 #1 songs I have found tonight that have had both mono and stereo commercial 45 copies pressed - the other to follow shortly.
