Looks like Pat has now updated the database with the actual 45 and LP run times for "Hey Baby (They're Playing Our Song)".

And speaking of Record Research books, I haven't updated my hardcover copies of Pop Singles and Pop Annual since 2000, so it may be a good time for me to purchase the latest editions of those books as well. ;-)

And, since I just ordered the A/C 1961-2006, and both the Pop Singles and Pop Annual book from Record Research today, perhaps loyal employee (and our buddy) Paul Haney could provide a timing of their commercial 45 for us, whenever he gets a spare moment. :)

    Author: Todd Ireland
Subject: 2302
Posted: 12 July 2007 at 8:49pm

According to the database, the run times on CD for The Buckinghams' "Hey Baby (They're Playing Our Song)" range from 2:36 to 2:48, which leads me to believe we may be looking at another example of different run time lengths between the 45 and LP. There are a handful of CDs where "Hey Baby" runs 2:48 and contains the comment: (:04 of studio talk prior to the beginning of the song). This suggests then that the LP run time is 2:44, which checks out with the 2:44 time on the CD release of the parent album Portraits (which was reissued as a 2-fer with the group's Time & Changes album on Sundazed 11073). Now, I notice the lone mono domestic CD appearance of "Hey Baby" runs 2:36, which leads me to think this runs closer to the commercial 45 length. Can anybody confirm the actual vinyl 45 and LP run times?
