I just compared a vinyl 45 of "Young Love" (that Jim was kind enough to dub for me) to the song as it appears on Donny Osmond's Greatest Hits CD (Curb 77510), and the 45 is not just an early fade. The version on this CD contains strings throughout the song, while the 45 does not. I have the British vinyl LP "Alone Together" and the running time is (2:29). My research suggests that Donny Osmond's "Young Love" first surfaced on his Alone Together LP on the MGM label in 1973. My commercial 45, which is mono, has both a listed and actual time of (2:18).
