Just thought I would comment that this song is not available on 7digital, Qobuz or Tidal. Instead it is only available on Itunes or Nicki or 6ix9ine's official website.

It just hit #1 this week, but with the current pace of #1's we have this year, I give this a week before some new song comes bursting on the chart at #1 and this drops out of the top 10 as fast as it came. Bets anyone?

P.S. I usually don't comment about the likability of new songs, but this won't be on my recurrent list of 2020 songs to play, let's leave it at that...

IMHO, this "song" is in the running for worst #1 Hot 100 hit ever, LOL!

At the very least, “Torn Between Two Lovers” now has a serious
challenger.

My current "worst" champ is "Harlem Shake" by Baauer.
"Torn Between Two Lovers" ain't even close to most of the
songs of the past 10 years.

I would have to second you on the Harlem Shake by Baauer. I still can't believe it hit #1 for 5 weeks in 2013!

In the past, radio had a far greater influence, so the #1 song actually felt
ubiquitous. Now with streaming so huge, and it being so dominated by Trap
Rap, hardcore rap songs can materialize for 7 days with huge points and then
disappear just as quickly. The traditional Mainstream, Mass Appeal "Top 40
type" songs are being relegated to the lower rungs, replaced by songs like
"TROLLZ".

Bought the download from 6ix9ine's website for 69 cents.
It will let choose FLAC, WAV, and MP3 when you receive
the email link to download. I downloaded all three to
compare them.

The FLAC and WAV are identical and definitely higher
bitrate than the MP3 when viewed in Cool Edit's Spectral
View. But, as is so common these days, it does look like
a lossy sample could have been used within the lossless
song.

I never take the mp3 when I assemble the current stuff. What the record companies don't want you to know is that many digital downloads are not lossless. I have plenty of files for the top 40 in 2019 that came direct from 7digital, Qobuz, Tidal Store and cd rips that are lossy.

It's a continuing problem that no one seems to notice Brian W. Having assembled the entire 2010's top 40 it does happen more at the end of the last decade then during the early part of it.

P.S. If its off of Tidal its generally 99.9 percent lossless. After all they are charging the highest price compared to everyone else. My general experience is that there files are more reliable then the other digital downloads available.

The iTunes download is also priced at 69 cents, likely
as part of an effort to get the song to #1. 6ix9ine
had expressed his displeasure at 'Gooba' not getting
to #1, even publicly accusing Justin Bieber and Ariana
Grande of timing their release of 'Stuck With U' to
deprive him of the #1 spot, which defies logic since
'Gooba' only reached #3.

There were examples in the CD-single era of singles
being priced at 99 cents to get them up the charts.
The CD single for the infamous "Lost In You" by Chris
Gaines retailed for 99 cents, as did Mariah Carey's
"Loverboy". ("Loverboy" was being mostly ignored by
radio when Virgin decided to issue the 99 cent CD
single. When Columbia learned of Virgin's plans, they
moved up their planned release of the CD single of
Destiny's Child "Bootylicious", which I believe was
sold at full price. "Loverboy" would spend two weeks
at #2, out of a total of only four weeks in the Top
40, kept out of the top spot by "Bootylicious".)

PopArchivist called it in the first post. "Trollz" has
fallen from 1 to 34, as per the article on Billboard's
website. A new record to be sure, although technically
Mariah Carey's Christmas song will always hold the record
for biggest fall from #1.

Trollz falls off the chart this week (7/25). 4 total
weeks on Hot 100....

I know that it's currently available online, but to be
honest, I don't have much motivation to even follow
the charts much anymore (and this is coming from a
chart addict!) Most of today's music just doesn't do
it for me and I have no desire to seek it out. Having
said that, if a book for the 2010s comes out I'll
definitely still buy it!

Each year I always compile a list of my favorite songs
that peaked on the charts that year. The length of
the list has been getting much smaller for quite a
while. This year it will will be difficult to come up
with more than probably 10 songs or so. Give me
anything from the '70s-90s any day over what's
available now - but that's just my 2 cents!

As for "Trollz" - never even heard it. I don't think
radio stations in my area ever played it.

TROLLZ didn't really bother me when I first heard it. The
only chart I see upward movement of this song is Mediabase
Urban where its +111 spins from 35-34.

We might have a new record for shortest stay on the Hot
100 for a number 1 "hit" after this week. BTS' "Life
Goes On" has gone from 1 to 28 to 93.

Yeah, I kind of don't understand how "Life Goes On" even
hit #1. It was only #1 on the song sales chart and only
#14 on streaming, and it didn't appear on the airplay
chart at all.

“Life Goes On”’s sales total that week was 150,000. The song at #2 on
the Hot 100 that week, 24goldn’s “Mood”, sold 7,000.

Like “Trollz”, the BTS song was a stand-alone single not available on
any album with the digital download priced at 69 cents.
