This may be a bit off topic since Black Sheep's "The Choice Is Yours" only
peaked at #57 on the Hot 100 chart. 28 years after this song's release I
am stumped. I picked up this nice rap compilation CD entitled "What's Up!
Rap Hits of the '90s" released in 1995. It contains a version of this song I
have never heard before. It is based on the "Revisited" version appearing
at the end of the original "A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" but the chorus is
completely different. The version I am used to goes like this:

You can get with this, or you can get with that [repeat 3X]
I think you'll get with this, for this is where it's at
[repeat both lines 2X]

The version on this CD goes like this:

You’ll get with this, you’ll get with that, you’ll get with this, cause this is
fat. (repeat 3X)
You’ll get with this, you’ll get with that, I think you’ll get with this, cause
this is where it’s at.

I have the 12" single as well as the promo CD single and those contain
edits of the one found on the CD album.

Aaron I was hoping you would have a fast answer for this one. Here is a
link to the comp. on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Whats-Up-Rap-Hits-90s/dp/B0000033I2

Thanks!

John

Wow, I've had this CD in my collection for years, and I don't think I've ever played "The Choice Is Yours" from it. I've never heard that version anywhere before. Seems likely that Rhino got the wrong tape sent to them. Strangely, the song is in mono, and it sounds like the guitar that starts at :09 was meant to bounce back and forth between the left and right channels. Instead, it cuts in and out at random places. I'd guess this mix was not meant to see the light of day and was included on accident.

This song, ironically, came up in conversation today on a
Facebook DJ group post. Is the more popular version "The
Choice Is Yours (Revisited)? That's the only version I
know, not the regular album version.

That's correct. The album version was not the hit.

Yes the album version was very different. Aaron, I'm glad I'm not crazy! I
originally picked it up for Snap's "Rhythm is a Dancer" hoping it may have
been the "no rap version." I actually like this version of "The Choice is Yours."
At first it shocked me and sounded so weird...really threw my brain off after
hearing the "Revisited" version for all these years. I almost put this CD back
on the shelf a few weeks ago and now I'm so glad I didn't! And for a $1.99 I
couldn't loose.

That would've been ironic if a CD called "Rap Hits Of The '90s" had the
"no rap" mix of "Rhythm Is A Dancer."
