The LP length on Vintage Music 19&20 starts cold with the music with no
handclaps (but with audience noise) while the 45 length on Hang On
Sloopy CD starts with abrupt handclaps which overlap the beginning of
the song. I also hear an edit at 2:34 that edits part of the instrumental bit
after the crowd stops "singing", which would disqualify the "length"
designation.

How did the 45 start? Pat, can you give a listen to these and
comment/update database where appropriate?

Note that someone sent me the version from the Hang on Sloopy CD ages
ago...i do not recall who - I just noticed the issue as I was going thru my
"45 vs. LP length" songs.

I cannot find my vinyl LP of "Hang On Ramsey" so I just ordered another copy and will get back to you when it arrives.

good ole YouTube....

these links:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kI_3QNMwHA&feature=kp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlqBRxsondM

feature the "Hang On Ramsey" LP, and they both appear to be legit as the
ending has vinyl surface noise and the label looks good on the one. Both
start with clapping over the music (logical, as it is indeed live), and, do not
feature the extended instrumental bit at the end! Perhaps Steve Hoffman
used a raw session tape for Vintage Music (as he has been known to do for
other tracks on that series).

here's two foreign 45s being played, and the Cadet 45:

that start without the audience claps and abruptly fade.

I know we can not rely on Youtube to be legit, however it seems logical
that if all these 45s play identicall (and mono), they would be legit.

I have revised the database to reflect new findings regarding Hang On Sloopy. The 45 fades up on the introduction with no audience applause and unfortunately none of the cd's listed in the database feature the 45 version. A number of cd's include a neither the 45 nor LP version comment.
